An Invitation to Change (A Holistic Therapist’s Approach)

how does change happen?

Hello! Join me this month for this short and sweet video invitation to cultivate compassion for yourself as you take steps towards change in your life.

Just to keep it real for a moment, change isn’t ‘easy’. Our brain will actually do everything it can to continue doing what is known, and thwart all efforts to do something new. So no, it’s not just you that has a hard time ‘doing what you want’.

The key to making lasting change is crafting a daily self-care practice that is tangible, will have an impact over time, and is simple enough that you will most likely do it every day.

Work with your therapist, or someone else you trust who can help you see past your habits and habitual self, to come up with a practice that will work with your unique temperament and challenges.

Then the invitation is to take one step at a time, be diligent in your commitment, and continue to practice everyday. Even when you miss a day, you start again. You trust the process.

If you’re looking for some ideas for a daily practice, I suggest:

I hope this video will inspire you to pause, look within and commit to making the changes you want in your life, starting today!

And of course, if you’re looking for support just reach out. Me and my team are here for you and offer holistic counseling in-person in El Dorado Hills, as well as online for anyone in California.

Let yourself be supported.

An Invitation to Change. With Kim Burris, Holistic Psychotherapist in El Dorado Hills, CA.

The Transcript:

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

Nothing changes if nothing changes.

So today, the invitation is to change something.

It can be something so small, but profound…

It could be slowing down as you walk through your house or your apartment. It could be taking one minute, as soon as you're done with this video to put your phone down, set a timer if you need to…

One minute to breathe… to be with yourself… to interrupt the circuitry… the momentum that you're currently in, to change it, to do something differently.

So think of one thing you can change today, one thing you can do differently today, and just check in with yourself, before, during and after.

See what happens, see what it feels like. See what change comes, from changing something.

I'd love to know what happens. Let me know! See you soon. Bye!

xoKim
